Announcement of cancellation of this year’s festival

With great sorrow and regret we announce that this year’s Beach Street Festival has been cancelled. Unfortunately, the necessary permissions & support from the local community were not granted, with direct result this cancellation.

The Beach Street Festival started in 2013 in Lesbos island, as the first youth festival focused on music & graffiti in the NE Aegean region, and with aim to become an institution andmeeting point for artists and young people from all over the world. A group of friends started this brand-new venture for the island of Lesvos, with the vision to offer to the residents and visitors of the island an experience equal to the largest music & arts festivals in Greece. During the previous 2 festivals, more than 4000 people took part in it, with 1500 coming from outside Lesvos. Several positive reviews and publications in Greek and international media prove the importance and quality of the festival, while promoting Lesvos in a national & international level.

Unfortunately, for this year’s festival, being the 3rd and most important one, we have not found yet the required support from the local authorities of Lesvos. As a direct result, we are obligated to cancel it, as it was obvious that we are heading to a sub-par festival, inferior to our expectations. Instead of organizing a festival within certain limits and according to the wishes of third parties, with poorer services for our visitors & artists, we decided to cancel it out of respect for all of you who supported us during the last 2 years.

We wholeheartedly apologize to all the friends and supporters of the festival and to all those who had already made plans to take part in it. We assure you that we are already looking into other solutions in order to return next year with the best possible festival.
